As we all head into another year, it only makes sense take advantage of that and allow yourself to have a new outlook on like, whatever that looks like. Last blog we focused on cleaning up from the holidays to help you start off the new year with a clean outlook for your home. So, now, why not start by focusing on yourself and understanding just what you deserve to be that rejuvenated self? To help you keep your outlook crisp and clear all year long, start off with the right habits.
Healthy Habits for the New Year
Set doable monthly goals
Monthly goals don’t have to be tasks, first of all. They can be reminders, mantras and positive things for you or your plan for the year. Set doable, actionable goals for each month and plan to complete them within that month. They’ll give you a sense of satisfaction when you can see that you are hitting your goals, and it also makes sense that you get things done on time! Reminder, you are important enough to make you a priority.
Sleep and rest more often
Sleep and rest, even if it’s not sleep, both are crucial for your health. Most of us don’t get the amount of sleep needed, so it’s important to always make room for it whenever possible. Rest helps our body and mind recharge. Go to bed an hour earlier or sleep an hour later in the morning as often as possible. You will feel the difference!
Outsource tasks
You need to make yourself a priority this year since you’re probably busy trying to keep the house and family going. Too often we forget to refuel ourselves. So, outsource those tasks that feel overwhelming or just unnecessary. After all, you can hire a professional cleaner, get your partner or grown children to help out with household tasks, and more. Take care of yourself by delegating and outsourcing roles and tasks thus giving you more time, or any, for you.
Embrace change as it comes
This is one of the hardest things, but essential nonetheless. Change will happen, and that’s what the past few years have taught us, if nothing else. So, try your best to embrace change and see it as a good thing, even if it doesn’t seem that way at first. Change isn’t something that we can interrupt, typically, so just let the stress melt away and go with it instead.
Move a bit every day
Whether it’s going for a walk, doing some yoga, or putting in a few minutes on an elliptical machine, focus on moving a little bit each day and try to enjoy it. If you are able to walk outside, getting some time outside is refreshing and can give you some essential nutrients – Vitamin D. You don’t need to be a masterful athlete to enjoy exercise, and it often is a great stress reliever. Pick a type of exercise that works for you, and don’t feel that you have to get a gym membership if you prefer solo exercise — there are tons of resources online that you can do from the comfort of your own home.
As we start off this new year full of hope and optimization, take time to focus on how many of these you can put into action for yourself so that you’ll enjoy a better quality of life and a better approach to the world of potential. The time is now to transform your future into its strongest, best self, which is all to your benefit.
